Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Mudbyte ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Sweeper mobile application ("the App"). By installing or using the App you agree to this Policy. Questions? Email support@mudbyte.com.
1. The short version
- Your photos, videos, and files never leave your device. All scanning, duplicate detection, compression, and deletion happen locally on your phone.
- We use Google Play Billing for optional subscription purchases. We never see or store your payment-card details.
- We use Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) to understand usage and fix crashes, and Google AdMob to show ads in the free version. These collect limited technical and usage data described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. Information processed entirely on your device (not collected by us)
Sweeper needs access to your media to do its job, but this content is processed on-device only and is never uploaded to us or any third party:
- Photos and videos (to find duplicates/similar images, large files, and screenshots).
- File and storage metadata (sizes, dates, storage usage).
- Your selections of which items to keep or delete.
When you delete or compress media, the action is performed locally. Deletion is permanent — see our Terms & Conditions.
3. Information collected automatically
a) Google Firebase Analytics
Collects pseudonymous usage and event data — for example screens viewed, features used, session counts, app version, device model, OS version, language, and a non-permanent app-instance identifier.
b) Google Firebase Crashlytics
Collects crash and diagnostic data (stack traces, device state, OS and app version at the time of a crash) so we can fix bugs.
c) Google AdMob (ads — free version only)
Serves ads and may collect device and advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID), IP address, coarse/approximate location derived from IP, and ad-interaction data, per Google's policies and the Google Privacy Policy. Purchasing Sweeper Premium removes ads.
4. Purchases
Optional subscriptions (weekly / monthly / yearly Premium) are processed by Google Play Billing. Google handles the transaction and your payment details; we receive only a purchase token and entitlement status to unlock Premium features. We never receive or store your card or bank information.
5. Permissions we request and why
| Permission | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Photos & videos (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, selected-photos access) | To scan your gallery on-device for duplicates, large files, and screenshots so you can clean them. |
| Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) | To notify you about completed scans/cleanups (optional; disable in system settings). |
| Run after restart (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) | To restore optional reminders after the device reboots. |
| Internet / network state | Required only for ads, analytics, and billing — not for processing your media. |
You can revoke permissions any time in your device settings. Some features won't work without media access.
6. How we use information
- To provide and maintain the App's cleaning and compression features.
- To diagnose crashes and improve performance and usability.
- To display ads in the free version and support optional Premium purchases.
- To comply with legal obligations.
7. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. Data described in Section 3 is processed by our service provider Google LLC (Firebase, AdMob, Google Play Billing) acting on our behalf or as an independent controller for advertising. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
8. Data retention
- On-device media data exists only on your device and is never sent to us.
- Analytics and crash data follow Firebase's retention settings (typically up to 14 months for analytics).
- Advertising data is retained per Google's policies.
9. Your choices and rights
- Ads personalisation: reset or limit your Advertising ID in Settings → Privacy → Ads, or remove ads by purchasing Premium.
- Analytics: request that we disable analytics by contacting us.
- GDPR / UK GDPR: rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object, and data portability.
- CCPA/CPRA (California): rights to know, delete, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing"; we do not sell personal information.
- To exercise any right or request deletion, email support@mudbyte.com.
10. Children's privacy
Sweeper is a general-utility app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Security
We rely on the platform security of Android and our service providers. Data transmitted by the analytics, crash, billing, and ad SDKs is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
12. International data transfers
Our service providers (Google) may process data on servers outside your country, including the United States, under appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
13. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, an in-app notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
